Maryland MCO Association
Formed in 2017, the Maryland Managed Care Organization Association (or MMCOA) is the trade association for Maryland’s nine managed care organizations serving the HealthChoice Medicaid program. We work to effectively administer and improve Maryland’s HealthChoice program through advocacy, education, and policy.

What We Do
Our mission: To advocate for a more effective, integrated, and comprehensive Medicaid program, and to ensure access to affordable high-quality healthcare for all Medicaid enrollees. We want to educate stakeholders and policymakers about the unique role that MCOs play in providing excellent healthcare through cost-effective coverage.
Our Goals
Help Expand Access
Through our efforts, the utilization of preventive care has increased, membership in HealthChoice has almost doubled, four MCOs offer statewide network provider coverage, and the use of telehealth services have become widely accessible to the members we serve.
Help reduce the cost of care
We collect and analyze medical expense and utilization data, as well as work with the policymakers who affect healthcare, to determine how costs will be impacted.
Help members receive high quality care
We share innovative new approaches to improve performance industry-wide and evaluate program data to find new best practices.
